Rules

             THE MAGNIFICENT VALLEJO SPEEDWAY HARDTOP

Here are some rules at The Vallejo Speedway.

BODIES: 1932 through 1948 American automobile only, coupe and sedan body styles only.
No convertible, roadster, sedan delivery, station wagon or pick-up bodies permitted.
Totally stock, no sectioning, off set no moving backward, must bolt onto factory mounts, increasing size of rear window for entry, exit and emergencies permitted.
WHEELBASE: Stock according to manufacturer.
CHASSIS: No chassis modifications are allowed, NONE!
STEERING: Center steering and power steering allowed, not required.
SHOCKS & SPRINGS: Must be stock, mounted on factory mounts.
Front Axels, spindles, A-frames, etc: Must be factory stock.
REAR END: Quick change allowed, must be mounted in stock position with stock mounts.
TIRES: 12" tire width permitted.
WHEELS: Steel wheels ONLY.
BRAKES: 3 wheel brakes allowed.
ENGINE: 305 c.i. maximum for all engines. U.S.automobile engines ONLY!
Multi carburetors allowed.
Gasoline ONLY! No exceptions!

In 1968 the car building rules were:

1936 - 1948 American manufactured car.  
Suspension was to be of Mfg. design but could be stiffened. (Spare leafs, and/or specialty built mfg. type springs.  
Cross members could be replaced with square or round tubing and/or moved but not affect the stock wheel base.  
Chassis could be “Z” in the rear or the horns “kicked”. (Lowered the center of gravity)
Pivot type weight jackers were allowed but no twin “I” beam axles.
Engines could be set back 6” behind the center of the front, cross member, (spring center).
Frames could be boxed, roll cages must be schedule 40 steel, no drive shaft or exhaust tubing.
Tires could not exceed 14” in width.
Engines: C.I.D. not to exceed 310 CID.  Any style carburetion and or manifold.  No injection.   310 was to keep out the 327.
Fuel must be pump gas.
Quick change rear ends allowed.
Center seat and/or power steering also allowed.
Split wish bones (Ford) also allowed.
